To the delight of the Winter-Weary, Adonis is one of the flower which blossom first. It comes along and cheer us up at a time when we most need it, after a long cold winter.
To celebrate spring arrival, we wanted to get a linen dress for every day comfort, whether we live nearby the beach or in the city.
This is how we decided to design #adonisdress and share it with you as the first pattern of the 2019 collection

This digital dress pattern is the result of a zero waste design research & development we made during 6 intensive weeks.

The sewing tutorial is available for free on youtube, however the pattern download is under contribution.
We only ask for symbolic 10€ to support our zero waste design research. It doesn't feed us but it helps developing the project as we really want to keep improving ans sharing our designs with you. This is the reason why we chose to distribute the pattern under the open source CC licence

What does CC licence mean ?
A CC license is used when an author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that he/she has created.

A Creative Commons (CC) license is actually one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of a work.

Different licences exist, here is the one we chose for this pattern:

ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate which changes were made

NonCommercial — You must not use this pattern for commercial purposes

#ADONIS pattern is available in PDF format only because we don't want to waste paper by printing unnecessary patterns.

What do you get when you download the pattern?
You first get a .zip folder that needs to be unzipped. Inside you'll find
✔ an instruction booklet with all the cutting and sewing information

✔ a printing test (10x10cm square)
✔ 3 folders containing the patterns from Size 34-48- one folder per printing format (A0, A4 or US LETTER)

The  #ADONIS dress is available from size 34 to size 48.
FIY, our size range has recently been updated & extended to hug your curves beautifully.
To choose the one that will fit you best, please refer to the below chart:

Please note :  If you are hesitant between two sizes, the most important measurement to consider is the WAIST. However do not worry too much as the dress has a certain amount of ease.

Lucile, the model from the look book is 1,71m tall. She wears a size 38.
Kelly, the 3D avatar above is 1,68m tall. She wears a size 38 too.

The #ADONIS dress pattern has initially been designed for linen fabric or soft cotton.
It is however possible to cut it in lighter fabric such has viscose or Tencel in order to add more fluidity in your silhouette.

Plain and patterned fabric are both possible.
If you want to go for a patterned fabric there are a few elements to consider:
1/ There are seams on the middle front and the middle back so if you want to join the fabric print,  it will give you extra work when cutting and sewing your pieces together
2 / The pattern layout contains both straight graincross grain pieces and head to tail pieces so the skirt and top print won't have the same print direction
Here are a few examples of the outcomes you can get.
And as you might have already noticed on the lookbook, the #ADONIS pattern is completely appropriated for stripe matching... !

Now concerning the fabric length needed, it actually depends on the fabric width you choose.
3 options are detailed in the instruction booklet provided with the pattern but the  minimum fabric consumption is the below one:

To make the #ADONIS  dress,  you will need the following supplies:
Some cotton thread in the color of your choice
Some cotton bias in the color of your choice to finish the neckline and the hemline

NB: the back opening strings can be made out of fabric end rolls or bias. If you want to use bias, we recommend you to add 2 strings of 40cm (80 cm in total) to the length indicated in the above chart.

You will also need the following tools:
a computer, a printer, blank paper sheets, scissors ,cellotape,
an erasable pen, a sewing machine, an overlock machine (or a zig zag point) an iron, pins and a measuring tape

Afraid you won't understand the sewing process? Do not panic, you just need to follow this video tutorial :

Through ADONIS, we wanted  to express diversity in its modularity.
It has has been thought in a way you can get 3 different styles out of the same pattern (and only the third style has to be sewn differently)
