My name is Kenichi and I live in Lima, Peru. I'm too a fashion designer and I've been working with Zero Waste Design since 2018 when I won a Peruvian Fashion Contest. I just came across this site and loved how Mylène and the other designers in this forum are creating the patterns. I'm still working on my website but I want to share some photos of my process here. I'll be uploading more in my blog and then in my website too, soon I hope.
I love zero waste pattern making because its so much fun! I hope we can keep sharing ideas like this!
For this project I tried to turn everyday garments with very basic fits into zero waste (like a basic t-shirt, pants, shirt, etc). that's why I ended up with too many pieces! (After this I learned that maybe less pieces would be better because who would do all this work for a basic shirt, right?)
In this collection of 4 outfits, 90% of the garments were zero waste. I also used upcycling using alpaca surplus materials and also used naturally colored organic cotton.
