This zero waste is the result of our very first collaboration with the french collective UNE AUTRE MODE EST POSSIBLE (#UAMEP)

What's all about ?
On december 8th and 9th, UAMEP was organizing a christmas village in Paris where ethically and environmentally engaged designers were presenting and selling their products.
For that specific occasion, UAMEP and I thought about designing a bag which features the strength of our collective

And this how, mid november, I found myself sewing a limited edition of sixteen bag fors that christmas village.
And why did we consider those bags as a zero waste products ?

Because they were
made out of industrial fabric en rolls
cut from rectangular shapes (which allows us to avoid producing any fabric leftovers)
printed out digitally with water based OEKO-TEX inks

For those who have been following MILAN AV-JC for a while, you might have noticed that never sell any of the product I sew. Simply because I focus on design reasearch and education. Then why did I make an exception ?  For two reasons:
1.  because 2% of all the revenues were donated to the charity organization Sciences-po refugees help  which act for material, social and juridical integration of refugees and this is something I care about.
2. because UAMEP and I shared the idea that open source projects are a necessity for the future of fashion.
This is why, we decided to share in opensource the making secrets of that bag so you can reproduce it at home and offer it as a gift for christmas.

What does "sharing in open e source under the Creative Commons licence"  means ?
A CC license is used when an author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that he or she (that author) has created.
A Creative Commons (CC) license is actually one of several
public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of a work".
And this bag pattern is shared under the following licence:

Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.

NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes

ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

The UAMEP bag, can be sewn is lot of different fabrics. As long as the fabric you choose is not too thin you'll be fine !
To avoid buying any new material, we also encourage you to go for second hand fabrics or give a new life to old curtains, tablecloths and blankets !
For the UAMEP limited edition we used severals offcuts coming from textile industry end rolls, EMMAUS or LE RELAIS GIRONDE.
Nom regarding the length you only need:
2 pieces of x 37 cm length (with a minimum width of 121cm)
